Senator Phillips Congratulates Roslyn Student on Being Named a Winner in Senate’s Earth Day Poster Contest

Senator Elaine Phillips (R-Manhasset) recently announced that Sophie Plotnitzky, a student at East Hills Elementary School in Roslyn, was chosen as a first place winner in the Senate’s Earth Day Poster Contest.  Senator Phillips visited the school to congratulate Sophie on her award winning entry.

Sophie’s entry focused on the importance of “reducing, reusing, and recycling” in order to protect the environment.  As a first place winner, Sophie’s poster was displayed in the State Legislative Office Building in Albany along with those of the other winners from across the state.

Senator Phillips is pictured with Sophie Plotnizky and her first place entry in the Senate’s Earth Day Poster Contest. They are joined by (l-r) Roslyn Board of Education President Meryl Waxman Ben-Levy, Assistant Principal Nichole Lewis and Sophie’s teacher, Jessica Moriarty.
