Senator Serrano joined his colleagues and Governor Cuomo in announcing the Bronx Civic Center neighborhood in the South Bronx will receive $10 million in funding and investments as the New York City winner of the second round of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative. As in the first round of the DRI, one downtown from each of the state's 10 regional economic development regions will be selected as that region's DRI winner and will benefit from $10 million in state investment to revitalize the area, marking another overall state goal to target $100 million in funding and investments to help communities identify catalytic downtown projects to boost the local economy.

“Today I was proud to join Governor Andrew Cuomo at the Bronx Museum of the Arts as he announced a $10 million grant for Bronx revitalization and economic development. I was happy to be with so many of my Bronx colleagues, including Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., The Honorable Speaker of the New York State Assembly Carl E. Heastie, and Assemblyman Marcos A.Crespo for this very important announcement. The Bronx has come such a long way since my childhood days of the 1970’s, and I’m proud to call it my home and raise my family here. I’m so grateful that Gov. Cuomo has made the continued growth and revitalization of the beautiful and historic Bronx such an important priority.”
