Senator Serrano Joins Community Residents & the NYPD for National Night Out

Jose M. Serrano

September 6, 2017

Senator Serrano joined community residents and the New York Police Department (NYPD) in honor of the 2017 National Night Out Against Crime. National Night Out is an annual event created to heighten community awareness against crime and drugs on our streets, generate support and participation in anti-crime programs, and to strengthen the neighborhood spirit with police community partnerships.

“On August 1st, NYPD Precincts across New York City participated in the annual tradition of National Night Out Against Crime. This event is always a fun and festive evening, giving police and community residents, especially our youth, the opportunity to engage in such a fun way while also taking a firm stance against crime in our neighborhoods. Our senate district covers a multitude of police precincts, from the South Bronx and Highbridge, to East Harlem, Yorkville and Roosevelt Island, as well as Central Park and the Upper West Side. I was able to join many of them, along with my colleagues, and present proclamations honoring their commitment to the communities they serve. Once again, I'd like to thank the NYPD and all of their dedicated officers for being excellent community partners while working day and night to keep us safe.”
