ALBION – Senator Rob Ortt (R,C,I – North Tonawanda) today presented Annette Finch of Albion with a special plaque in her honor recognizing her as one of the New York State Senate’s Women of Distinction. The Senate’s annual Women of Distinction program celebrates the enormous contributions women have made throughout their communities and state.

Senator Ortt said, “Annette is an extraordinary woman whose life is a testimony to her devotion to others. Her work and accomplishments have truly enriched our society and neighborhoods, which make her well deserving of this recognition. I’m proud to honor Annette for her leadership, compassion and dedication to the individuals and families in her community.”

As the Director of Community Services at Community Action of Orleans & Genesee Counties, Finch helps disadvantaged families achieve self-sufficiency. Finch has worked with the organization since 1977, and has become a staunch advocate on behalf of families and communities across both counties. Over the years, she has worked to initiate and develop life-changing programs through Community Action, including its garden projects, thrift store, care packages for veterans, school supplies for children, the annual holiday basket, and coat drives. She has also worked in conjunction with the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign and camp for families and children in need, as well as the work release program through the Albion Correctional Facility to help teach life skills.

Finch also dedicates her time, talent and energy to several local organizations, serving as both an advisory committee and board member of Orleans & Albion Correctional facilities; the Village Recreation Committee; the Salvation Army Service Unit for Orleans County; and Jobs Corps program, to name a few.

Annette Finch was selected as a 2017 Woman of Distinction by Senator Ortt, and was honored among 61 other distinguished women during a ceremony in Albany last month.
