Senator Elaine Phillips recently congratulated Vincent Pugliese of Troop 298 in New Hyde Park for earning scouting’s highest honor; the rank of Eagle Scout.

At a ceremony held at the Hillside Public Library, Senator Phillips presented Vincent with a formal New York State Proclamation honoring his achievement.

“Eagle Scout is an honor aspired by many but achieved only by a select few.  Successfully completing the years of hard work, training and community service needed to earn scouting’s highest rank, as Vincent has done, is a true testament of his commitment and dedication,” said Senator Phillips.  “Giving back to one’s community is important and I was pleased to learn Vincent’s Eagle Scout project involved giving back to his local public library.  Congratulations again to Vincent, his family and the entire Troop 298 on this outstanding achievement.”

Vincent joined Cub Scouts in 1st grade as a Tiger in Pack 489.  His Eagle Project was at the New Hyde Park Public Library Children’s Activity room where he painted, cleaned carpets and furniture, built poster board storage units and a lost and found box.
