On Deadline for City and HUD Agreement, Senator Benjamin Opposes Federal NYCHA Takeover

(New York, NY) – On the day of the deadline set for the City of New York and the Department of Housing and Urban Development to come to an acceptable agreement on the future of NYCHA, Community Voices Heard, tenant activist groups, labor unions and elected officials will hold a press conference on Thursday, January 31 at 11:00 a.m. at 250 Broadway, Suite 1930 to demand that a HUD takeover does not occur.

Members of the legislature will also announce the sending of a letter to HUD Secretary Ben Carson explaining their reasoning against a federal receivership and how to move forward to protect NYCHA and its residents.
