Successful Resource Fair for Veterans and Active Duty Service Members in Orange County, First of Several Hosted by Senator Jen Metzger

Town of Warwick, NY...State Senator Jen Metzger (SD-42) sponsored a free resource fair for active duty service members, veterans, and their families on Tuesday at the American Legion Post 214 in Warwick. Metzger partnered with state and local organizations to make resources available and provide assistance to veterans and their families in areas including health care, housing, legal services, and more.

Drawing almost two dozen attendees, the fair was open to active duty service members, veterans of any branch of the U.S. military, and their families. Partners included Legal Services of the Hudson Valley, Joseph P. Dwyer Vet2Vet, Middletown VA Clinic, the Comptroller’s Office of Unclaimed Funds, and Orange County Veterans Affairs. Attendees also had an opportunity to pay their respects at the New York Warrior Promise Wall, a traveling memorial, honoring the servicemen and women who have fallen to suicide.

“Connecting our veteran community with information and resources that are tailored to their needs is a priority for me,” said Senator Metzger. “I was thrilled to partner with like-minded organizations on this fair, and I hope that folks who couldn’t make it will get in touch with my office for information, or join us at the next veterans resource fairs in December—one in Sullivan County, and another in Orange County.”

Senator Metzger will sponsor two veterans resource fairs on Wednesday, December 18. The first fair will take place in Sullivan County from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at the Sullivan County Government Center in Monticello. The second fair will take place in Orange County from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm at HONOR in Middletown.
