Hundreds of Families Present, Thousands of Eggs Collected at Senator Persaud's Third Annual Easter Egg Hunt in Eastern Brooklyn

The third annual Senate District 19 Easter Egg Hunt occurred at Canarsie Park in Canarsie on a warm, sunny afternoon on April 13; it was entirely free and open to the community. Throughout the day, guests enjoyed fun activities, snacked on assorted treats, received free giveaways and took their picture with as well as hugged the two Easter Bunnies who made a surprise appearance. For the main event, Senator Persaud opened up two enormous egg hunts, one after the other, to the hundreds of kids in attendance, who reacted with tremendous excitement and energy, collecting every egg in just minutes.

While last year's Easter Egg Hunt featured over 1,500 colored eggs, this year Senator Persaud's Office brought over 5,000 eggs filled with candy for the children to collect, as well as 12 golden ones to find to receive gift cards or new Easter egg baskets. Additionally, hundreds of bags of goodies were handed out to ensure no child went home empty-handed. Finally, in addition to assistance from community partners, vendors and volunteers, groups and organizationsBroadway Stages, Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, Canarsie Lions Club, the Carpenter Contractor Alliance of Metropolitan New York, David Optical, Millennium Development, the New York City Police Department, S&D Kids and WellCare cosponsored the event.

Senator Persaud said: "Senate District 19’s third annual Easter Egg Hunt was a resounding success. The combination of good weather, Easter Bunnies, thousands of 'eggs' and enjoyableactivities allowed the community to have a wonderful time. Seeing the joy on the faces of the children when they found the golden eggs and received the special prizes is why we hold these events. And of course, thank you to our incredible sponsors and partners for making each year’s event better than the last. Our community is greater when we all come together to have fun. I look forward to seeing everyone at our next event.”
