Senator David Carlucci

May 5, 2020

(Rockland/Westchester, NY) -- Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) launched a social media campaign to link health care professionals and first responders with free or discounted lodging last month. The effort has now resulted in more than a half dozen partners.

Senator David Carlucci said, “Many health care workers and first responders talked about the fear of going home and potentially exposing their families to COVID-19. While some booked hotel rooms, eventually it became too expensive to sustain. Our health care workers and first responders are sacrificing so much for us so it made sense to try and give back. We have terrific area businesses, and we applaud the hotels and motels who stepped up to the plate to reduce their rates during this crisis. We are hoping to have hotels offer free rooms, but perhaps private donors will step forward to help cover room costs for frontline workers.”

The hotels who came forward to help are now offering deeply discounted rooms with the majority, offering nightly rates of less than $100.

The hotels and motels giving back, include:

Candlewood Suites Nanuet

Spring Valley Quality Inn

Hilton Garden Inn – Hampton Inn

SpringHill Suites by Marriott Tarrytown

Comfort Inn & Suites

Crowne Plaza- Suffern

Courtyard Mahwah

Westgate Inn - Nyack

Residence Inn Orangeburg

Double Tree Nanuet

Hotels and motels in Rockland and Westchester Counties who would still like to participate can reach out to Senator Carlucci's office at (845) 623-3627 or email carlucci@nysenate.gov. If health care workers or first responders are having difficulty finding an affordable option, Calucci said they should call his office.
