Senator Alexis Weik (R-C, Sayville) was officially sworn in to office Wednesday, taking the oath of office inside the historic Senate Chamber at the State Capitol in Albany. Today also marked the opening of the two-year Senate session.

Senator Weik, the former Receiver of Taxes for the Town of Islip, was elected Nov. 3 to represent the 3rd Senate District, comprising parts of the Towns of Brookhaven and Islip.

"I am excited and deeply humbled by the confidence that Suffolk County voters have placed in me. While today's event marks the official start of my term as Senator, I've already been hard at work learning about issues that face our district and the entire state. My district office in Patchogue is staffed, open and ready to serve our communities, and I'm ready to get to work to find solutions to some of the tough and unprecedented challenges we face," Senator Weik said.
