Senator Weik Announces Nearly $3 Million in State Regional Economic Grants for the 3rd Senate District

Senator Alexis Weik announced that the State has approved nearly $3 million in Regional Economic Development Council (REDC) Grants to spur the local economy in the 3rd Senate District.  Governor Hochul announced the winning projects at the 11th Round of the REDC awards this past week. 

“These grants will provide meaningful support to our business and nonprofit communities, which will help stimulate our regional economy.  Many of these projects are ones I fought and advocated for, and I am thrilled that they have been granted awards by the REDC,” said Senator Alexis Weik.

Award recipients in the 3rd Senate District include:

  • $500,000 for The Trust for Public Land—To undertake activities to complete a scope of work that will make shovel ready a 25-mile segment of the Long Island Greenway, an extension of the Empire State Trail from Eisenhower County Park in Bethpage to Brentwood State park in Brentwood.
  • $750,000 for the Bayard Cutting Arboretum—For a new visitor center to be constructed at the Arboretum.
  • $46,651 for the Friends of Connetquot, Inc.—To restore the South Side Sportsmen Club Fish Preparation Room in the Club House.
  • $500,000 for the Patchogue Village Center for the Performing Arts—To renovate and improve the Performing Arts Center.
  • $1,000,000 for Suffolk County—For the Mastic Beach Violets Cove restoration planning and design.
