Senate Deputy Leader Gianaris Recognized By Align-NY With 2021 “Movement Builder” Award For Efforts In Passing The NY Hero Act

LONG ISLAND CITY – Senate Deputy Leader Michael Gianaris was honored by ALIGN-NY with their Movement Builder award at their annual gala on Tuesday night in recognition of his efforts in passing the NY HERO Act. Senator Gianaris was honored alongside Assembly Member Karines Reyes, RWDSU President Stuart Appelbaum, and Dr. Lara Skinner, Director of the Worker Institute’s Labor Leading on Climate Initiative.

“I was honored to receive the Movement Builders Award from ALIGN, but true recognition is due to all the advocates that made the NY HERO Act a reality,” said Senate Deputy Leader Michael Gianaris. “Without these advocates and essential workers, none of this is possible. I look forward to growing the movement to protect workers and creating a more just New York.”

About the ALIGN Movement Builder Awards

The ALIGN Movement Builders Awards are a yearly tradition where leaders in social, economic, and environmental justice are recognized. Since its inception, we countless individuals and groups at the forefront of making New York City a true model for progress on a national level have been celebrated. Having missed out on this tradition in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ALIGN once again celebrated the movement builders who have fought for a more just and equitable New York through the health, economic, and climate crises of the past year.
