State Senator Patty Ritchie joined local leaders and St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union officials Thursday to help celebrate the grand opening of the Credit Union’s new branch in downtown Heuvelton, next to historic Pickens Hall.

In September of 2020, St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union announced plans to establish a location in Heuvelton to help meet the financial needs of area residents. Today, the community gathered to celebrate its grand opening.

“There are certain things that are essential to any community—and a financial institution is one of them,” said Senator Patty Ritchie. “I am thrilled that St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union has opened its doors and now will be a place where local residents can go to take care of their financial needs. I would like to thank the Credit Union for their investment in the Heuvelton community and congratulate them on the grand opening of their newest branch.”

The St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union was established in 1954 for the employees of the St. Lawrence State Hospital and their families. In addition to Heuvelton, the Credit Union also has locations in Ogdensburg, Canton and Potsdam.
