Senator Cordell Cleare's Swearing-In Ceremony to be Performed by Honorable Rowan Wilson, Chief Judge of the New York State Court of Appeals

New York, NY - State Senator Cordell Cleare is thrilled to announce that her Swearing-In Ceremony will take place on Sunday, April 23rd, 2023, from 3 pm to 6 pm, at the Wadleigh School for the Performing Arts and Visual Arts Auditorium, located at 215 W 114th Street, New York, NY 10026. The event will commemorate Senator Cleare's first full term as a State Senator for the 30th district in the state of New York.

The Honorable Rowan Wilson, Chief Judge of the New York State Court of Appeals, will administer the oath of office to Senator Cordell Cleare. This momentous occasion is especially significant as Senator Cleare follows in the trailblazing footsteps of Constance Baker Motley, a pioneering civil rights icon who achieved numerous historical firsts during her lifetime, including becoming the first African-American woman appointed to the federal judiciary. With no woman having been elected to this particular seat in over five decades, Senator Cleare's victory marks a significant milestone in the ongoing struggle for gender equality and representation in New York State politics.

Notable guests, including Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart Cousins, U.S. Senator Charles Schumer, NY State Attorney General Letitia James, NY City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, NY City Mayor Eric Adams, and several other dignitaries, local elected officials, and community leaders will also be in attendance to celebrate this historic occasion.

Senator Cleare is excited to celebrate with her constituents and wants to ensure they feel included and celebrated on this momentous occasion. "It is an honor to represent the 30th district in the state of New York, and I am deeply humbled by the opportunity to serve my constituents," said Senator Cleare. "I am excited to share this special moment with the people who have entrusted me to be their voice in Albany."
