Senator Iwen Chu accepting nominations for the 2023 Outstanding Librarians Award

BROOKLYN, NY – Today, March 31, 2023, New York State Senator Iwen Chu, Chair of the Senate Libraries Committee, announced that she is accepting nominations for the 2023 Outstanding Librarians Award from all across New York State.

Senator Chu will honor and recognize those who take the extra step to serve their library community. During National Library Week, which begins April 23, 2023, Senator Chu will select librarians from various regions across the state and provide special recognition to those chosen.

Senator Chu said, “Libraries are far more than a place for books, they are consistently expanding their services to better serve their communities. Librarians, especially, serve an important purpose in maintaining these spaces. These individuals go beyond to provide information and educational opportunities – and their work deserves to be recognized. I am looking forward to hearing about the work being done across the state, and honoring those who work so diligently for our New York Libraries.”
