Statement Regarding the Indefinite Hold on the Closure of Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital
July 11, 2024
Make no mistake, the indefinite delay of the closure of Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital is a huge step forward for the residents of Lower Manhattan as we fight to save our community hospitals. This is the result of the tireless efforts of our community coalition, and it is proof that when communities organize together, we win big. However, this fight is still not over. We’re going to continue to hold Mount Sinai accountable for its commitment to Lower Manhattan, and demand a suitable, long-term plan to keep access to healthcare available to all residents.
We must continue to work together to urge MSBI and the DOH to prioritize the needs of our communities and look towards transformative healthcare solutions that are high-quality, put people over profit, and are accessible to the most vulnerable in our communities.
