Senator Mattera Honors Terri Alessi-Miceli as a Woman of Distinction

Senator Mario R. Mattera (2nd Senate District) is proud to announce Terri Alessi-Miceli of Smithtown as his 2024 Woman of Distinction. This prestigious award is given in acknowledgment of her exceptional contributions to the local business community and her profound impact on Long Island’s economic development.

Terri Alessi-Miceli is the President and CEO of the HIA-LI where she has been an esteemed voice for Long Island businesses and a crucial economic force. Her leadership has significantly contributed to the growth and success of numerous businesses within the region. Under her guidance, HIA-LI has championed critical regional issues such as transportation, workforce development, and affordable living. The organization plays a vital role in advocating for the Long Island Innovation Park at Hauppauge, one of the largest economic hubs in the Northeast, which sustains over 55,000 jobs and houses more than 1,300 companies.

In addition to her role at HIA-LI, Ms. Alessi-Miceli is a current board member of Discover Long Island and has served on the boards of the Long Island Regional Planning Council and the Suffolk County Girl Scout Council. Her expertise and insights have been featured across various media platforms including Newsday, Networking Magazine, Smithtown News, Long Island Business News, and on News 12’s “Jobline.”

Her humanitarian efforts have not gone unnoticed. She received the Harry Chapin Humanitarian Award for her significant contributions to Long Island Cares and for her role with the Dress for Success program, where she trains women in interviewing skills and self-confidence enhancement.

Ms. Alessi-Miceli’s accolades include induction into the Long Island Business News’ Hall of Fame as one of the Top 50 Women Professionals on Long Island, the LIBN Top CEO Award, and inclusion on the 2022 “Power List.” Additionally, she has been recognized by Long Island Press and City & State Magazine for her outstanding contributions and innovations.

Beyond her professional and philanthropic endeavors, Ms. Alessi-Miceli is dedicated to her community as a religion school teacher and a volunteer with Big Brother/Big Sister. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from Adelphi University.

She lives in Smithtown with her husband Joe and their son Nicholas.
