FFA Students Take Active Role in Agricultural Education and Leadership

Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R-C, Elma) and members of the New York State Senate recently honored the National FFA Organization, formerly known as Future Farmers of America, with a special resolution on the Senate floor. The resolution co-sponsored by Senator Gallivan called on Governor Hochul to designate February 17-24, 2024, as National FFA Organization Week in New York State.

FFA has more than 165 chapters across New York, with nearly 12,000 students involved.  The organization’s motto is “Learning to do, doing to learn, earning to live, living to serve.”

“The National FFA Organization helps students develop leadership skills and promotes agricultural education in science, business, and technology,” Senator Gallivan said. “The program has a positive impact on students by also promoting citizenship, volunteerism and patriotism.”

FFA members from across the state were in Albany last week to meet with Senators and Assemblymembers and to discuss issues important to New York’s agricultural community. Among those meeting with Senator Gallivan was New York FFA President Ella Underberg of Springville.
