(Ithaca, NY) – Today, Senator Lea Webb (SD-52) announced that she has secured $68,000 in state funding for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County in Ithaca. The funding was awarded through the New York Senate’s Community Resiliency, Economic Sustainability, and Technology Program (CREST) and will aid in the purchase and installation of a security system.
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County plays a vital role in strengthening local families, youth, and communities through research-based programs and hands-on learning. The organization offers a wide range of services, including youth development through 4-H, environmental education, agriculture and gardening support, and community health and nutrition programs. Each year, CCE engages thousands of residents across Tompkins County, providing accessible resources and educational opportunities that promote sustainability, personal growth, and community well-being.
“I am proud to have secured $68,000 in state funding for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County,” said Senator Lea Webb. “CCE has long been a trusted resource for families, youth, and community members across our region, and this investment will help ensure that their facilities remain safe and welcoming for everyone who walks through their doors. By supporting these upgrades, we are strengthening a community institution that provides invaluable education, engagement, and support to residents throughout Tompkins County.”
“Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County extends sincere gratitude to Senator Webb for helping to secure this funding through CREST,” said Executive Director Cynthia Cave-Gaetani. “With the funding resources we will implement needed improvements and upgrades to 4-H Acres and the Education Center in Ithaca, NY. Hundreds of local youth benefit from their time spent indoors and out at the Acres, and with these improvements, we will continue to provide year-round youth development opportunities, education, connection, and fun.”
