Program Supports Critical Upgrades to Water & Sewer Infrastructure

Senator Patrick M. Gallivan, (R-C, Elma) says the Environmental Facilities Corporation (EFC) approved financial assistance for sanitary sewer improvements in the Village of Depew. The Board's approval authorizes municipal access to low-cost financing and previously announced grants to support critical water and sewer infrastructure projects.

“Protecting public health and the environment is important to everyone,” Senator Gallivan said. “Investments by the state and federal governments help make projects like this more affordable and manageable for local municipalities.”

The $1.9 million grant and financing package for the Village of Depew will support the planning, design, and construction of sanitary sewer improvements to reduce inflow and infiltration to the sewer collection system.

The latest round of funding totaled $176 million for projects in more than dozen communities across the state.

EFC approved grants to local governments from the Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Funds – a mix of federal and state dollars dedicated to financing community water infrastructure projects. Leveraging federal funding in conjunction with state investments maximizes the impact of each dollar spent, empowering local communities to make the critical system improvements they need to keep their residents safe.
