Brooklyn, NY – On Monday, April 21, 2025, Senator Roxanne J. Persaud hosted a powerful and informative virtual webinar in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The event, titled “Together We Act, United We Change,” brought together community members, advocates, and experts for a meaningful conversation about the realities of sexual violence and the importance of prevention, support, and collective action.

Held via Zoom and streamed live on Facebook, the one-hour webinar provided attendees with valuable information on identifying sexual violence, accessing resources and support services, and understanding the critical role that individuals and communities play in creating safe environments. Topics included the importance of speaking up, breaking the silence surrounding abuse and harassment, and empowering survivors.

Senator Persaud emphasized the need for ongoing dialogue and action, stating, "Coming together as a community to act and looking for ways that we can change is what this conversation is all about. Remember, you are not alone. That is why we have hosted this webinar—so you understand and share the information with others."
