Bellport Village Community Center Completes Major Improvements With State Grant Funding

(Patchogue, NY) – The Village of Bellport’s Community Center has completed extensive renovations following the award of $187,500 in state grant funding, resulting in significant upgrades that will enhance safety, accessibility, and functionality for the entire community.

The improvements included insulating and sheet rocking the open ceiling above the stage, replacing flooring throughout the first floor, repairing and painting the bathroom, installing new fire and carbon monoxide detectors, upgrading portions of the electrical system, and installing an updated sound system. Additional renovations included improvements to the stage and storage areas, completing necessary plumbing work to relocate and reinstall the radiators, and the installation of a new fireproof stage curtain, which is currently underway.

In addition to the state funding through a NYS State and Municipal Facilities (SAM) Grant, the Village of Bellport contributed an additional $5,600 toward the project. Village Department of Public Works employees also played a key role by contributing their carpentry expertise, helping bring the project to the finish line efficiently and cost effectively.

“This project is a great example of how state and local partnerships can come together to deliver meaningful improvements to our communities,” said NYS Senator Dean Murray, 3 rd Senate District. “The Bellport Community Center is an important gathering space, and these upgrades ensure it will continue to serve residents for many years to come.”

Special recognition goes to Mayor Maureen Veitch for her strong stewardship of the grant funds and leadership throughout the project. “When government works across party lines, communities benefit. I’m grateful to everyone, especially Senator Dean Murray, who played a role in bringing this to fruition for the public good,” stated Mayor Maureen Veitch, Village of Bellport.

The completed renovations represent a significant investment in Bellport’s community infrastructure and reflect a shared commitment to maintaining safe, modern, and welcoming spaces for residents of all ages.
