(Ithaca, NY) – Today, Senator Lea Webb (SD-52) delivered $174,500 to Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County to support renovations and building upgrades to CCE’s 4-H Acres campus. Senator Webb secured the funding through the New York State Senate’s Community Resiliency, Economic Sustainability, and Technology (CREST) Program.

CCE’s 4-H Acres campus is located on over 400 acres of land, including ash groves, a hemlock forest, swamps, streams, and open fields. It is home to many youth programs serving local families, including 4-H Clubs, the 4-H Youth Fair, Primitive Pursuits, and more. In addition to acres of outdoor space, 4-H Acres includes two indoor gathering spaces, a commercial kitchen, a covered BBQ pit, and a large pole barn used by CCE’s programming.

“Hundreds of local youth and their families spend time at 4-H Acres each year, benefiting from really valuable hours outdoors during summer camps, afterschool opportunities, preschool and homeschool programs, and more,” said Vicki Fleming, Tompkins County 4-H Issue Leader. “This site is the hub for an astounding amount of activity, learning, and memories year-round, and these funds will guarantee that our local youth continue to have and share these experiences for years to come.”

“4-H Acres is a cornerstone of youth programming in Tompkins County, and I am proud to deliver $174,500 to support needed improvements to this space,” said Senator Lea Webb. “Cornell Cooperative Extension continues to strengthen our community, and this funding will help ensure its work can continue for years to come.”
