(Southern Tier, NY)  On Friday, Senator Lea Webb announced the conclusion of her 4th Annual Menstrual Product Drive, resulting in thousands of essential menstrual product donations for individuals in need across Broome, Cortland, and Tompkins Counties. The drive saw an overwhelming response from the community and local organizations, demonstrating a shared commitment to promoting equity and access to vital resources.

“The incredible response to this year’s drive reflects the compassion and strength of our community,” said Senator Lea Webb. “Because of our collective effort, thousands of essential menstrual products will reach individuals and families across the Southern Tier. Access to these supplies is a matter of dignity and health, and I’m proud to work alongside local partners who help turn shared values into meaningful action.”

The donated menstrual products, including pads, tampons, and wipes, will be distributed to community organizations throughout Senate District 52. These donations are going to directly benefit individuals and families who may face financial barriers to accessing these necessities.

In New York, a month’s supply of period products costs $15.56, more expensive than any other state. According to the Alliance for Period Supplies, 1 in 3 low-income women miss important events due to a lack of access to period supplies. Menstrual products are not covered under public assistance programs like SNAP or WIC.

As Chair of the Women’s Issues Committee in the New York State Senate, Senator Webb launched the initiative during her first term to address the growing need for menstrual products in the region. The campaign was carried out in partnership with local organizations, including Binghamton Metro Doulas, C4 Cortland Communities of Color, and Downtown Ithaca Alliance, who helped organize drop-off locations and encouraged widespread participation.
