Senator Andrew Lanza Speaks on Senate Bill S51001

July 01, 2022

Senator Andrew Lanza today spoke on Senate Bill S51001, a radical gun control proposal that was introduced to circumvent the U.S. Supreme Court's recent decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen. The bill, which was only introduced mere hours before debate and a full floor vote, would prevent law-abiding New Yorkers, who have undergone permit classes, background checks, and a licensing process from exercising their constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

At a time when violent crime is rising all over our state and New Yorkers need the right to self-protection now more than ever. Instead of addressing the crime crisis they created with their bail "reform" and other pro-criminal policies, One Party Rule again targeted law-abiding citizens with this severe infringement on our 2nd Amendment Rights.
