Senator Lanza On The Need For Property Tax Relief In NYC

Today the Senate voted to make permanent a 2% property tax cap in our State, but it continues to exclude the more than 8 million people of New York City - who deserve property tax relief just the same way that people across the State do. I rose to speak on the floor of the Senate to advocate for a property tax cap for Staten Island and NYC. I have authored a bill (S1758) to cap future property tax increases in NYC at 2%. My bill would force the City to control its spending and budget more responsibly.
