Rensselaer County Purple Heart Highway

On Wednesday the Senate passed my bill to designate State Route 43 as the "Rensselaer County Purple Heart Highway". Stretching from the Massachusetts border near Stephentown to the intersection with I-90 in North Greenbush (over 20 miles), this designation will pay homage to those military members who earned the Purple Heart. Awarded to service members who are wounded or killed in combat, the Purple Heart is an award no one wishes for, but one everyone must respect. That is why, since taking office, I am proud to have led a successful grassroots campaign to have all municipalities and counties in the 43rd Senate District designated as Purple Heart communities. We owe all of our veterans a great debt, especially those who sacrificed their bodies and their lives, and this is a small way we can do that.
