NYS SENATOR ERIC ADAMS USES A HIDDEN CAMERA VIDEO TO SHOW THE PURCHASE OF 30- ROUND BULLET MAGAZINES AT AN UPSTATE GUN STORE. THE SENATOR WILL CALL FOR LEGISLATION BANNING THE ACQUISITION OF THESE DEADLY MAGAZINES.
On Wednesday, March 3rd, 2011, NYS Senator Eric Adams, joined by NYS Senator Kevin Parker, & Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries, held a press conference to display a hidden-camera video he made during a purchase in an upstate gun store. In the video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHWo3kdh340 , Senator Adams purchases an assault rifle bullet magazine that carries 30 rounds of powerful ammunition. This is the same bullet magazine sold at Arizona gun shows. The magazines are legally sold in New York, due to a troubling loophole in existing NYS law. NYS Senator Adams and NYS Assembly Member Jeffries will introduce legislation to make it illegal to sell this type of bullet magazine.
Senator Adams states: “After the recent horrific and tragic Arizona shooting, New York City investigators attended an Arizona gun show and were easily able to purchase magazines that hold 30 bullets, similar to those used in the Tucson, Arizona shooting. These dangerous high-capacity magazines are currently available for legal purchase in New York State. We must close the loophole that permits individuals to possess this inordinately high level of firepower. My bill will protect the general public as well as law enforcement officers."
