ONEONTA, 11/19/13 – State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I-Oneonta) recently hosted his second economic development summit in Otsego County. The event was broadcast/webcast live, thanks to SUNY Oneonta, and is now available on-line.
“A diverse group of nearly 200 elected officials, business leaders, and educators attended Otsego County Economic Development Summit II at the Foothills Performing Arts and Civic Center,” said Senator Seward. “Now those who were unable to make it in person can watch this archived version.”
Senator Seward sponsored the summit in conjunction with the Otsego County Development Corporation (OCDC), the County of Otsego Industrial Development Agency (COIDA), the Otsego County Chamber, and Citizens’ Voices.
SUNY Oneonta Director of Communications Hal Legg said, "SUNY Oneonta is proud to support this event and make it accessible to a broader audience. Framing a plan for economic development will be critically important to our region, and we join Senator Seward and other participants in their belief that Otsego County is positioned for growth."
The summit was a follow-up to an event convened by Senator Seward in 2012 to help revitalize Otsego County’s efforts in regard to economic development.
"The summit offered valuable information and observations from a host of outside experts and sparked positive conversations that can help move Otsego County forward. Now we need to roll up our sleeves, combine this sage advice with our own creative ideas, and work collectively to implement a strategic plan that will yield future economic success," Seward concluded.
