ONEONTA, 04/28/14- State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I–Oneonta) today hosted the Joint Senate Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction in Oneonta. The forum was one of fourteen being held statewide to solicit local input on the rise in use of heroin and other opioids in New York State and develop recommendations for treating and preventing addiction.
Senator Seward, a member of the Joint Senate Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction, was joined by Senator Phil Boyle (R/C/I – Suffolk County), task force chairman, local health care professionals, addiction experts, law enforcement officials, and concerned citizens.
“The real stories told by those in attendance highlight the need for a multi-prong strategy that will help break the stranglehold heroin has on so many people in our society. This forum, featuring a diverse group of local stakeholders, will play a vital role as we develop our line of attack against this growing epidemic,” said Senator Seward.
