February 23, 2016

ONEONTA, 02/23/16- State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I–Oneonta), a member of the Joint Senate Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction, today hosted a roundtable discussion to solicit input from area stakeholders on the heroin epidemic.  The co-chairmen of the task force, Senator George A. Amedore, Jr., Senator Terrence Murphy, and a representative for Senator Robert Ortt, along with task force member Senator Fred J. Akshar II, will took part in the forum along with local health care professionals, addiction experts, and law enforcement officials.

“As we work to battle the heroin epidemic which is destroying lives, families, and communities, it is important that we hear from those on the front lines to learn what is working and what more needs to be done.  Today's discussion, and the expert views brought to the table, will help considerably as we continue to formulate legislative strategies to address this devastating health crisis," said Senator Seward.
