RITCHIE JOINS STUDENTS AND TEACHERS TO FIGHT FOR RURAL SCHOOLS
State Senator Patty Ritchie rallied along with hundreds of students, parents and teachers from across the state, including hundreds from North Country schools, to boost funding for rural schools.
Senator Ritchie was a featured speaker at a capital rally by students and supporters of a more fair funding formula for rural schools.
“We’re all fighting for you,” Senator Ritchie said. “We know what you are going through and we know it’s important. Public education is a priority and it needs to continue to be a priority for New York State. No one deserves any less of an education whether you live in the North Country, Western New York or downstate.”
Earlier in the morning, Senator Ritchie met with many of the students as they prepared to board buses headed to Albany for the midday rally, and thanked them for joining the fight for their local schools.
