Ortt Questions DEC on Cutting Salmon in Lake at Budget Hearing

During Monday's Environmental Conservation Budget Hearing, Senator Ortt questioned the DEC’s recent decision to cut Lake Ontario’s salmon stock by 20 percent for one year. Ortt said this could have a negative impact on the fishing industry, which generates millions of dollars to the region each year. The DEC commissioner said they don’t believe the economic impact would be evident at the charter fishing level in the short term. Ortt, however disagrees.
