State Senate Announces $200K for Unified Champion Schools
In Rochester, area students came together to overcome intellectual and developmental challenges through sports. Unified Sports programming promotes social inclusion by bringing together students with and without intellectual disabilities through some friendly competition. The games push individuals to not be limited by their disabilities. Senator Ortt recently joined his Senate Republican colleagues to announce $200,000 in funding they secured to expand Unified Sports to other schools. Senator Ortt said, the inclusive program helps students gain confidence, a sense of camaraderie and most of all, they realize they too can defy all odds and achieve great things.
