Albany, N.Y., April 7—State Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats) announced today that residents of his 53rd Senate District can now view a new, online “Legislative Report” -- a 15-minute interview highlighting legislative actions in Albany and their impact on the region.
“I try to encourage as much input as possible from my constituents, and I also like to give them opportunities to hear my own views and thoughts on current issues being debated in Albany and having an impact throughout the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions,” said O’Mara.
The first installment of O’Mara’s “Legislative Report” can currently be viewed on his Senate website. During this week’s interview, O’Mara discusses:
-- his ongoing transition from the Assembly to the Senate. O’Mara was elected to represent the 53rd Senate District last November following three consecutive terms representing New York’s 137th Assembly District. The 53rd District covers Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, and Yates counties, and a part of Tompkins County (the city and town of Ithaca, and the towns of Enfield, Newfield, and Ulysses);
-- the recently enacted New York State budget, including some thoughts on Governor Andrew Cuomo’s approach to this year’s budget adoption process; and
-- a look-ahead to some of the key outstanding issues for the remainder of the 2011 session of the state Legislature.
O’Mara said that a new “Legislative Report” will be posted on his website every Thursday or Friday during the weeks that the Legislature is in session.
It will also be made available to public access channels locally, including Time Warner Cable. Check local listings for air times.
