Senator O'Mara questions the Cuomo administration on the future of Monterey Shock

February 05, 2014

Albany, N.Y., February 5—State Senator Tom O’Mara (R,C-Big Flats), continuing the local grassroots effort to convince the Cuomo administration to reverse its decision to close the Monterey Shock Incarceration Correctional Facility later this year, today directly questioned the state’s corrections commissioner on the decision at a legislative budget hearing in Albany.

O’Mara questioned Anthony J. Annucci, acting commissioner of the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, and again urged the Cuomo administration to reconsider its Monterey decision.  O’Mara asked Annucci a series of questions on how the administration reached its decision to close Monterey and how the governor and administration officials continue to justify the decision economically, fiscally and programmatically.
