Senator Morahan names Hudson Valley Physician to State Panel on Immunization

Yesterday, New York State Senator Thomas P. Morahan held an educational forum at the Liberty Elementary School in Valley Cottage to mark the start of National Immunization Awareness Month. The Senator used the forum to remind parents getting their children ready for school, sending a student to college, healthcare-workers and seniors about the importance of keeping vaccinations update.

The Superintendent of the Nyack Union Free School District, Dr. Valencia Douglas, presented the latest information that parents need to know regarding H1N1 (Swine Flu) Immunization with respect to the upcoming school year.

The Senator also used the occasion to introduce Dr. Kenneth Steven Rowin, M.D., a Hudson Valley physician, who has been appointed to the New York State Advisory Council on Immunization. Dr. Rowin is the Senior Attending Physician for the Infectious Diseases Units at Nyack Hospital, Good Samaritan, and Helen Hayes and is highly regarded for his clinical expertise in the area of infectious disease control.

Superintendents from school districts in Rockland and Orange Counties, County Health officials, private school leaders, hospital administrators, nurses, seniors, principals, teachers, parents and their children participated in Senator Morahan’s program.
