Senator Kaminsky lauds Facebook ad disclosure in NYS budget

"People are bombarded in their social media feeds where many of our neighbors get their news with political ads saying terrible things about people and they have no idea where it comes from... Our state took a big step forward today by requiring on paid advertisements, disclosures of who paid for that ad, so that voters can assess for themselves and weigh the information for themselves... This is a really big step forward.  I think voters expect from us to do the best we can to give them the best chance we can to evaluate the candidates and participate in our system... We're taking a big step of cleaning that up, getting outsides forces foreign or domestic out of our domestic process, and I'm proud to support this bill," said Senator Todd Kaminsky upon the passage of his proposal to prevent anonymous and false political attack ads on social media.
