Senator Montgomery's Anti-Shackling legislation (S.983-A) received final legislative approval on June 23, 2015. It now awaits consideration by the Governor before becoming law.

The bill prohibits the shackling of female inmates who are pregnant, in labor or eight weeks postpartum during transporation or hospitalization, except under extraordinary circumstances.
