We need affordable energy NOW!

SEN. Daniel G. Stec

In recent months, New Yorkers across the state have seen a drastic increase in their energy bills. Since 2019, electric bills have shot up an average of 54-percent. This escalation in costs is unsustainable for ratepayers.

Currently, about 1/3 of the average energy bill paid by New Yorkers is devoted to State taxes, fees and regulations. This, combined with the cost of implementing the CLCPA’s green energy mandates, has played a large role in the increases being felt by residents.

I am calling on the Governor and the State Legislature to take action and support ratepayers like me. A pause or repeal of the CLCPA's mandates and cuts to energy-based taxes and regulations are essential to providing immediate financial relief.

Governor Hochul and the Legislature, repeal the CLCPA and enact energy tax cuts to make New York more affordable!
