Join Senator Flanagan In Fighting To Protect Residents From LIPA Lawsuits

SEN. John J. Flanagan

September 04, 2018

While LIPA’s property tax lawsuit looms large over communities hosting Long Island’s legacy power plants, Governor Cuomo has sat idly by refusing to help the hard working families under threat of this potentially devastating lawsuit.

Thankfully, Long Island’s State Senate Republicans have stood up and taken action by passing legislation (S. 8235) that would give critical financial assistance to affected localities and school districts for up to fifteen years - easing any negative impact of LIPA’s lawsuit on taxpayers.

The legislation gives municipalities and school districts sufficient time and state funding to make reasonable and necessary adjustments to their local spending plans.

Please join Senator Flanagan in calling on Governor Cuomo to protect the hard working families and businesses on Long Island.
