I’ve heard you loud and clear! Community opposition to homeless shelters on 86th Street and Coyle Street is ongoing. Rather than getting the affordable housing that we were promised, these neighborhoods are getting shelters instead. That isn’t right.

 

Locally and in Albany, I’m making sure our concerns are heard. Placement of shelters, like these ones, shouldn’t happen without neighborhood awareness and support. Furthermore, for community safety and to ensure those living at shelters are in an appropriate supportive environment complete with access to comprehensive services, where these shelters are placed matters.

 

That’s why I have introduced legislation (S.5554) to prohibit homeless shelters from being within 500 feet of a transit facility. Sign this online petition to say NO to these proposed shelters and demand my legislation be PASSED in the State Senate.
