Responding to Opioid Overdose

On Thursday, February 29 from 6-8 PM we will host a free opioid overdose training session at Hartley House (413 W 46th St. New York, NY 10036). This training takes approximately 2 hours and is presented by a NYS OASAS opioid overdose training specialist. Topics include addressing stigma, NYS 911 Good Samaritan Laws, overdose risk factors, recognizing and responding to an overdose, administration of naloxone, and reporting naloxone use.

Training objectives include:

  • Increasing understanding and awareness of fatal overdoses related to opioids and the impact within the community
  • Identifying risk factors for an overdose
  • Learning to recognize a suspected overdose
  • Learning to identify the five essential steps for first responders as outlined in the SAMHSA Opioid Overdose Prevention Toolkit in the event of an overdose
