Community Award Nominations

Do you know someone who has gone above-and-beyond in service to their community? You can nominate them for special recognition from Senator Kevin Thomas and the New York State Senate!
Senator Kevin Thomas is seeking nominations for the following New York State Awards:
- Liberty Medal - The New York State Liberty Medal Award is the highest civilian honor that can be bestowed by a Member of the New York State Senate upon a resident of New York State. The Liberty Medal is awarded to individuals who have performed exceptional, heroic, or humanitarian acts on behalf of their fellow New Yorkers.
- Commendation Award - The New York State Senate Commendation Award is a high honor presented to individuals who have made a lasting contribution to their community. These individuals exemplify the spirit of volunteerism at its best, and devote their time, energy, and expertise to helping others. They are leaders in the community who enrich the social, health and educational well-being of their fellow citizen. Commendation Award recipients display exceptional generosity either through direct financial support, or by performing outstanding civic and charitable work. Their efforts and dedication improve the quality of life in every aspect of our communities.
- Empire Award - The New York State Empire Award recognizes local businesses for significant contributions to the growth and prosperity of our communities and state. This year, our Empire Award recipients include businesses who stayed open throughout the pandemic provided PPE, cleaning supplies, food services to our communities, and kept us informed, as well as businesses that kept our hope alive as we waited for them to reopen.
