         2                  THE PRESIDENT:    The Senate will

         3       come to order.

         4                  I would ask all those assembled to

         5       please join with me in reciting the Pledge of

         6       Allegiance.

        15       Washington's inauguration as president, he

        16       placed his hand on the Bible, on a very warm

        17       and friendly day, April the 30th, 1789, to

        18       serve with integrity this nation.

        19                  Our Senators today are called, on

        20       this frigid day here in Albany, to leadership

        21       as Your elected and dedicated public servants.

        22       So we bless them in Your name so that they can

        23       carry out their most important work for all of

        24       our citizens in New York State, and ask God to

        25       protect them and their goodwill.
