13   Carlucci to explain your vote.

14                SENATOR CARLUCCI:   Thank you, 

15   Mr. President.

16                I want to thank my colleagues for 

17   supporting this legislation.  This is sending a 

18   strong message to the people of New York State 

19   to say our public highways are not a NASCAR 

20   racetrack, that if you want to race cars, you 

21   go to a private track, to a private club.  

22                This is important legislation to 

23   say we're taking a zero-tolerance policy when 

24   it comes to drag racing in New York.  

25   Unfortunately, we've seen tragic accidents and

 1   have spoken to the parents that have lost 

 2   children at such a young age.  We've got to 

 3   make sure that we take a zero-tolerance policy, 

 4   and I want to thank my colleagues for 

 5   supporting this legislation.

 6                Thank you, Mr. President.  

 7                ACTING PRESIDENT FARLEY:   The 

 8   Secretary will announce the results.

10                ACTING PRESIDENT FARLEY:   The

20   at this time, in consultation with Senator 

21   Sampson, I would like to hand up the following 

22   committee assignments and ask that such 

23   assignments be filed in the Journal, please.
