2 ACTING PRESIDENT SAVINO: The
3 Senate will please come to order.
4 I ask all those present to please
5 rise with me and recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
6 (Whereupon, the assemblage recited
7 the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.)
8 ACTING PRESIDENT SAVINO: Today's
9 invocation will be delivered by Apostle Leeds
10 Jean of the True Vine Ministries/The Last Resort
11 International, from Brooklyn, New York.
12 APOSTLE JEAN: Praise God. Good
13 afternoon.
14 Before I do this invocation, at this
15 moment I would like you to put your heart
16 together with me. Last year, on February, I have
17 lost my mother. And following that few months,
18 our Senator lost his mother as well. And I think
19 some of you might have gone through the same
20 thing. We're just going to take a moment right
21 now for that.
22 (Whereupon, the assemblage respected
23 a moment of silence.)
24 APOSTLE JEAN: Thank you.
25 Our Father, we give You praise. Our
1211
1 Father, we bless and magnify Your name. We thank
2 You for being God. We thank You for giving us
3 this moment to come together.
4 Father, as You have allowed me to be
5 in this place, as you allow me to sit in the
6 heavenly place within You, we pray to You now,
7 God, as I stand here in this place, that You,
8 Father, will grant us the wisdom, grant us that
9 we will do that which You have called us to do
10 here in Jesus' mighty name.
11 Lord, I pray to You now for each and
12 every individual that is here within this room --
13 representing the city, representing the state,
14 representing the nation, Father. We pray to You
15 for the individual families, God, my Father. We
16 speak now Your peace within this room. We speak
17 now Your peace over each and every one here. We
18 speak Your peace over each and every community
19 that they represent here.
20 Our Father, we pray that You will
21 grant them the wisdom, grant them the wisdom and
22 understanding, God, that they will carry out the
23 assignments that enrich Your purpose and call
24 them to carry out within this place.
25 Father, I speak now to their DNA,
1212
1 according to the purpose in which they have been
2 called to be here, that, God, You will enable
3 them that they will do what is needed to be done
4 within this nation.
5 Father, we pray to You, God, for the
6 individual communities which they represent now.
7 We pray to You for the individual cities and we
8 pray to You for the people that they represent,
9 the nations that they represent, Father, that You
10 will enable them that they will meet the needs of
11 the people within the communities.
12 Father, we pray to You now as they
13 are about to deliver, as they are about to put on
14 the floor the concerns, Father, that by the
15 spirit of the Lord, by the spirit of counsel,
16 God, You will empower them, You will give them
17 the words to speak, You will give them the
18 knowledge and the wisdom to articulate the words
19 that they are to speak upon this floor here
20 within this place, Father.
21 We pray that You empower them, Lord.
22 We pray that You will do it for Your glory and
23 for Your purpose and for the purpose which you
24 have established this nation, that this nation
25 will remain a nation that people and cultures and
1213
1 nations will take pattern after. We pray to You
2 now that You will do it, do it here.
3 Do it here, Father, and do it within
4 the various communities that they represent.
5 And, God, the people that comes within this
6 nation will see the way that you move with this
7 United States of America, that they may go into
8 the diverse nations and do likewise.
9 We pray to You that You will let
10 this nation remain a shining nation, a shining
11 place where people in cultural relation will come
12 in and find a place that they desire to dwell in.
13 We pray Your blessing upon each and
14 every person here, upon their communities, and
15 even upon this nation, Father. And we thank you
16 now, in Jesus' mightiest name.
17 Amen.
