 2                ACTING PRESIDENT GRIFFO:   The 

 3   Senate will come to order.

 4                I ask all present to please rise and 

 5   join with me as we recite the Pledge of 

 6   Allegiance to our Flag.

 7                (Whereupon, the assemblage recited 

 8   the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.)

 9                ACTING PRESIDENT GRIFFO:   In the 

10   absence of clergy, I ask everyone to please bow 

11   their heads in a moment of silent prayer and 

12   reflect upon Proverbs 27:1:  "Do not boast about 

13   tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may 

14   bring forth."

15                (Laughter.)

16                ACTING PRESIDENT GRIFFO:   The 

17   reading of the Journal.

18                THE SECRETARY:   In Senate, 

19   Saturday, April 1st, the Senate met pursuant to 

20   adjournment.  The Journal of Friday, March 31st, 

21   was read and approved.  On motion, Senate 

22   adjourned.

23                ACTING PRESIDENT GRIFFO:   Without 

24   objection, the Journal stands approved as read.

 9                SENATOR DeFRANCISCO:   I would now 

10   request that we stand at ease, subject to the 

11   call of the Leader, which hopefully will be 

12   relatively soon and be the beginning of a very 

13   productive period of time.

15                ACTING PRESIDENT GRIFFO:   At the 

16   request of the Floor Leader, the Senate will 

17   stand at ease.

18                (Whereupon, the Senate stood at ease 

19   at 2:48 p.m.)

20                (Whereupon, the Senate reconvened 

21   at 11:58 p.m.)

22                ACTING PRESIDENT GRIFFO:   The 

23   Senate will come to order.

24                Senator DeFrancisco, we'd like to 

25   extend the birthday wishes of the house to

 7   Mr. President, pursuant to Rule VI, Section 2, I 

 8   move that we remain in session to complete 

 9   action on a measure or measures that preceded 

10   12:00 midnight this evening.

11                And I'd like to extend the 

12   12:00 a.m. to continue discussion on any 

13   measures that may come before the Senate.

14                ACTING PRESIDENT GRIFFO:   Senator 

15   DeFrancisco --

16                SENATOR DeFRANCISCO:   Or for which 

17   a message of necessity will be or has been 

18   received from the Governor.

19                ACTING PRESIDENT GRIFFO:   Thank 

20   you, Senator DeFrancisco.  Your motion is in 

21   order, in accordance with Rule VI, Section 2 of 

22   the Rules of the Senate.

 3   motion is carried and the session will continue.

 9   Senate stands at ease.

21                SENATOR DeFRANCISCO:   That being 

22   the case, I move to adjourn until tomorrow, 

23   Tuesday, April -- excuse me, Monday.  Today is 

24   Sunday, isn't it?

 7                UNIDENTIFIED SENATOR:   We're 

 8   adjourning until later this morning.

10   know I'm confused because we extended the day, 

11   so everything is all mixed up.

12                All right, that being the case, I 

13   move to adjourn until Monday, April 3rd, at 

14   12:00 noon, sharp.

15                ACTING PRESIDENT GRIFFO:   On 

16   motion, the Senate will stand adjourned until 

17   later today, Monday, April 3rd, at 12:00 p.m.
