Arnie Mig Memorial Big Band Concert

New York State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo Jr. proudly invites you to attend the annual Arnie Mig Memorial Big Band Concert, co-sponsored by New York State Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato and Brady & Marshak, Attorneys At Law.

This year’s festivities will be held outside, from 7 to 10 p.m., at the St. Helen’s parking lot, located at the corner of 157th Avenue and 84th Street in Howard Beach, on Thursday, August 17th, with a rain date scheduled for Thursday, August 24th. In addition, as always, admission is free and open to the public.

The first annual swing concert began almost 30 years ago, when the late Arnold “Arnie Mig” Migliaccio, a beloved musician and leader of the Serenaders in Blue Orchestra, would perform Big Band-era jazz standards of the 1940’s for audience members throughout the Howard Beach community.

In memory of the beloved swing musician, Addabbo has continued to carry on this tradition, by hosting a big concert in his memory, every August at St. Helen’s Parish, for the last seven years straight.

“Arnie Mig and his music continue to live on in the heart and soul of this community,” Addabbo said. “The memorial concert is a great way for us to continue to provide people with the upbeat and energetic style of music that they have grown to know and love, while also honoring a man who brought joy to so many for more than two decades. The hundreds of people who attend this event each year are a true testament to the legacy he left behind and the impact that Arnie Mig had on contemporary music. It is my pleasure to be able to once again bring this memorial concert to the people of Howard Beach.”
