A Black History Month Celebration

Join us as we recognize and celebrate the history of African Americans and their distinguished role in shaping American history, "African Americans and the Vote". The year 2020 marks the centennial of the Nineteenth Amendment and the culmination of the women's suffrage movement. It also marks the sesquicentennial of the Fifteenth Amendment and the right of black men to the ballot after the Civil War.

As Senator of the Third Senatorial District, I am proud and honored to be representing such a diverse and influential community that takes tremendous pride in African American progress and excellence through the years.

The event will be a celebration of achievements by African Americans in Suffolk County and will recognize individuals and community organizations who have gone above and beyond to make a positive impact in their communities and special contributions in various fields.

The ceremony will include a number of performances as well as food and refreshments. We look forward to seeing you and your loved ones on Friday, February 28, 2020 at the Boys and Girls Club in Bellport. The ceremony begins at 6:00 PM and concludes at 8:00 PM.

Please RSVP by February 21, 2020 by contacting my office at 631-360-3356 or ekizian@nysenate.gov.
